Timber Floor Sanding and Coating Services
Refresh your aging floor with a new coat
How we do it.
Floor sanding and coating services are essential for restoring and enhancing the appearance of wooden floors. Over time, floors can become scratched, dented, or lose their shine, making them look dull and worn. Sanding removes the top layer of wood, eliminating imperfections and creating a smooth surface ready for new finish applications. Coating then provides a protective layer that enhances the wood’s natural beauty and increases its durability against wear and tear.
Preparation
This initial step involves removing all furniture and fittings from the room, thoroughly cleaning the floor, and ensuring no nails or staples are sticking out, as these can damage the sanding equipment.
Sanding
The floor is sanded using progressively finer grits of sandpaper. This process starts with a coarse grit to remove the old finish and any significant imperfections, and gradually moves to finer grits to smooth the surface and prepare it for finishing.
Coating
After sanding, the floor is cleaned to remove all dust, and then a sealant or base coat is applied. Once the base coat is dry, one or more top coats of the chosen finish, such as polyurethane or water-based coating, are applied to provide a protective layer that enhances the floor's appearance and durability.
